Guiding Philosophy |
God calls us to give to others because it will not just help others but it will help ourselves. God wants a cheerful giver who gives with humility - and not for recognition. The actual Greek word Paul used in 2 Corinthians for giving is hilarion or hilaros. That’s right! God wants us to give so joyfully that it's hilarious...imagine that!
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 – "Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed." Proverbs 21:26 – "The righteous gives and does not hold back." James 2:15-16 – "If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,' and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?" |
